Spring is on the Horizon!

Today is the first day in a long, long time that it has felt like maybe, just maybe, spring may be around the corner!! The sun is shining and it feels so great! We close at 5 on Saturdays for the time being and today, after we close up shop, I will be heading to Easton to do a little shopping with my mom and grandmother who are visiting for the weekend. I also plan on enjoying a glass of wine when we get home, and I know exactly what I am in the mood for!
This weather has me thinking white.....and right now my current obsession is the 2008 Destefano Sauvignon Blanc from the Columbia Valley. It is very crisp and fresh with great acidity so that it really would pair well with foods like light chicken dishes, pan seared fish, or with something super yummy, like a goat cheese and tomato tart. I am SO in the mood for summer in case you can't tell!
The flavors are pretty distinct - you get some peach, some citrus flavors and some bright green apple on the palate. What I love about it is that it isn't in your face citrusy, which I find can be a turn off with some Sauvignon Blancs.
Hope everyone in this area is enjoying this little hint of spring!

Amazing Australians.........and we aren't kidding!

This Friday we are excited to be hosting an Australian tasting at Meza featuring wines from Vine Street Imports. I tasted some of these wines a while back…..on my day off actually. A representative from Vine Street Imports was going to be in town on a Monday and this was the only day they would be bringing them around. Well all I can say is that I am really glad I made the time to meet with him. These wines were innovative, big, bold, lush and just plain delicious. The labels are edgy and make great conversation pieces. The varietals are unique and blends unusual. A far cry from the day to day wines you see stocked up high at the local grocery store. We hope to see a lot of our regulars at this tastings, and new folks as well. It will be well worth the $10.
